I have no clear idea where this thread is pointing exactly. However as far faith is concerned, we are the typecasts. We follow what we were born with. Very seldom, people make a choice. They just go on believing what they were born with; or in certain circumstances taught, and taught at a tender age.
Like: Am I a Hindu? Well, yes. But, a default Hindu would be better to say I guess.
I was born a Hindu and do I really know for sure that I am best a Hindu?
May be I would have better been a Muslim or Christian or whatever. Who knows? You can’t argue over that. A simple reason may be given that it was my Karma my fate or my destiny that we are going there where the almighty wants us to be. I find all these absurd, and this concept of putting almighty’s wish in every where people find it difficult to explain the irrationality and absurdity of their faith or actions.
So, don’t you think as far as faith is concerned, we should get option: to be more precise, faith in the context of religion.
And certainly children should be taught religion. Give them moral education, basic science most of all give them common sense and humanity. When they develop an understanding they will choose what’s best for them.
I have chosen atheism for me. But frankly, I have not been able to follow it FAITHfully so now I put myself in this category, an agnostic. Don’t know if it is or it’s not. Can’t prove if “it’s not”, but not ready to accept “it is” either.
